History
The history of China can be arranged based on the different ruling dynasties which governed the country for centuries. These dynasties can then be grouped together to form the three basic historical eras, namely the Ancient Era, the Imperial Era, and the Modern Era.
The Ancient Era began in 2100 BC and ended in 221 BC. Three dynasties belonged to this era, which are the Xia, Shang, and Zhou Dynasties. The Xia Dynasty is the first Chinese dynasty in the history of the country, while the Zhou Dynasty is the longest dynasty to ever exist in China.
It was during the Imperial Era when the construction of the Great Wall of China began. The Qin Dynasty was responsible for starting the creation of the Great Wall, which was further improved during the Ming Dynasty. The last dynasty in China was the Qing Dynasty, which was headed by Emperor Guangxu.
The Republic of China was formed on March 12, 1912, and was founded by Sun Yat-sen. Now, the history of China serves as a testament to the different events which have contributed to its current status to the global economy, science and technology, and other fields. Over the years, China has become a great influence in East Asian culture, plus its inventions have helped spur the development of the world.
Among the many inventions and activities which originated from China is associated football, otherwise known as football or soccer. The Beijing International Unity Cup is an award given during soccer tournaments held in China.
